While the library remains closed and unable to host AARP volunteers, patrons can still access services virtually using: https://www.aarp.org/money/taxes/aarp_taxaide/.
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide provides in-person and virtual tax assistance to anyone free of charge with a special focus on taxpayers who are over 50 or have low-to-moderate income.
Tax-Aide volunteers are located nationwide, and are trained and IRS-certified every year to make sure they know about and understand the latest changes and additions to the tax code. Tax help is provided in safe environments based on a number of factors, including where you are located, COVID-19 spread, and volunteer availability.
In addition to AARP volunteers, South Fulton branches have previously hosted VITA volunteers and their website is: https://www.irs.gov/individuals/find-a-location-for-free-tax-prep.
This year, some VITA/TCE sites are not operating at full capacity and others are not opening. To locate an open site near you, use the VITA/TCE Locator Tool or the AARP Site Locator Tool. The locator tools are updated throughout the filing season, so check back if you don’t see a nearby site listed. Also, please review the other online resources and tax help tools on IRS.gov including tax forms, instructions and publications, online payment methods and options to file with IRS Free File - free for most taxpayers.
