Air Conditioned Activities

If it's too hot outside, you can always count on the resources on our Instantly Available page for no-wait books, videos, and more to entertain you in your home. If you want to leave the house and not break the budget, try some of these air conditioned options for fun available from Fulton County Library System!

Visit any library branch for one of our many community game events, like the Gaming Cafe at Louise Watley Library at Southeast Atlanta, the Mah Jong Meet Up at the Milton branch, or the Dungeons & Dragons for Teens weekly game at the Northeast/Spruill Oaks Branch. All of our game events can be found by clicking the Games and Gaming tag inside our library calendar of events.

If you love art, come tour the updated Central Library, with its many art installations and spaces for working artists. Our libraries are often home to free exhibitions of artists of note, like the current show Joy of Living by Firoozeh Bowden at the Buckhead branch, or the Around the Way Dreams Photography Exhibition by Melissa 'Phyllis Iller" Alexander at Auburn Avenue Research Library.

You don't need to live close to a branch to visit or use the facilities - all Fulton County Library System card holders are welcome at all of our library locations. We all know Fulton County traffic can be intense though, so if you'd like to search for our events just near you, we understand!

Don't see anything that you would enjoy on our event calendar? Use one of our recently renovated meeting rooms for your own craft or hobby group! Many of our branches have lovely meeting rooms that any library card holder can use, and all are recently renovated with new carpet, furnishings, and lots of outlets. Just as you don't need to live near Central Library to enjoy the Best Buy Teen Tech Center, you can visit different branches to find just the right meeting room space for your needs. Use these rooms for your condo board or neighborhood meeting, organize a sewing circle, host your own board game group, or just chill out with friends while talking and working on whatever your common hobby might be.

Use any of our digital library content to start your own book or film club inside our meeting rooms!. All video content on Access Video and Kanopy can be screened for any group inside any library location! Just make sure to contact branch library staff in advance so that they know you are coming.

Not in the mood for a group activity? Check out one of our many partnership passes! While you might be familiar with our offerings like passes for the Center for Puppetry Arts or the Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory, you may have missed the news that we now offer free tickets to the Alliance Theatre! Rumor has it that the Alliance theater, in addition to hosting some of the best live theater in the Southeast, also keeps their auditoriums icy cold.
