August is American Artist Appreciation Month!

Display Location: Central Library- 3rd Floor General Collection Department

American Artist Appreciation Month was started with the simple aim to celebrate artists and the incredible work that they do. Art is not just something beautiful to look at, it also reflects the human condition, emotions, and ambitions. Art portrays what we are trying to convey when words fail. Celebrate the month by discovering new American artists or revisiting the artworks that you love. You can even check out local museums and galleries to support local artists. (via nationaltoday.com) Central Library will be showcasing 3 local artists this month in the Central Artist Corner as well as an exhibit in the Alcove. “The Separation Between You and I Is Just an Illusion” by artist Paul Leroy will be on display until August 17th, and the closing ceremony for the exhibit will take place on August 3rd, where guests will have a chance to hear the artist speak about his work. Central Library will also have art classes such as fiber art club and a collaging workshop. The Central Fiber Arts Club meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month and can be registered for here. The collage workshop will be August 13th at 4pm and can be registered for here. Materials will be provided, and classes are free and open to the public.
