It is never too early to start reading books to infants. Reading books out loud starting from birth strengthens the parent-child bond and gets your baby started on important language and literacy skills. And in truth, it doesn’t matter what you read to your babies: Just hearing any words will get them the foundations for a later vocabulary, and it’s the lap-sitting, not the book choice, that makes for good bonding time. It is better if you have a library of choices with great illustrations, entertaining stories, clever features like flaps you can lift, enriching themes, or words that are fun to say out loud (or all the above).
