The library supports learning all year long, but July is the time to prepare for the new school year!
The first day of school for Atlanta Public Schools is Thursday, August 1st, and the first day of school for Fulton County Public Schools is Monday, August 5th. One of the great things about education in and around Atlanta is our public school calendars, which start right away in August to allow for longer breaks during the school year, preventing teacher and student burn-out.
Many organizations host free school supply giveaways in July, so be on the lookout for one near you! Some notable events are:
The APS Back to School Bash - This event for all Atlanta Public School students and families held at Georgia World Congress Center, Halls C1 and C2 on Saturday, July 20th from 9am to 1pm is not to be missed! See the booth for Paper.co, the library's online tutoring platform while you're there. The deadline to register for the Back to School Bash is Friday, July 12, 2024. Registering in advance allows those attending to skip the long lines that sometimes form at the Back to School Bash. First Day Fulton - This event for Fulton County School students and families will be held at two locations on the same day: Banneker High School and Riverwood High School, on Saturday, July 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. See the FCS website for more information.
