The arrival of September always makes me yearn for those days, while driving my car, I round a corner and end up rustling up a ton of brown and orange, newly fallen leaves. For some reason that is such fun; and gets me into the spirit of the fall season. Perhaps your move into the seasonal change is less dramatic, but, instead, conjures up other things and thoughts.
In the library world, the month’s focus is on National Library Card Sign-Up. You are invited to come in and use your card; or renew it and use it; and to encourage others to get a card. It is always said that a library card opens the world up to each of us. That can be a true statement if you seek to make it so.
Online resources and print materials await you at the libraries. The Fulton County Library System has 34 libraries and staff waiting to assist you as needed. Make a library your destination place. Put it on your list of places to go and include people to meet there when you arrive. There are study rooms and meeting rooms for your use. Your library allows you admission to things you may not know you need. Stop in and see for yourself.
Additionally, you may want to stop by a library and learn the origin story behind Labor Day, which is celebrated on the first Monday of September. It is a day of tribute to the American worker, whom we salute.
Finally, stay tuned for updates on new trends and happenings throughout the Library System. From art exhibits, to performances, storytelling, storytime and craft programs; cooking classes; and musical events, the library of today is a place of sound, light, movement, conversation, and action.
Put it on your calendar!
