Comics are very much a part of the American Fabric, with classic newspaper strips and enduring American Superheros very much still a part of our culture. Our friends across the pond also have a rich history:
Moebius looms large in many classic european comics, his art has influenced many modern comics artist. One of his primary collaborators is Jodorowsky.
Jodorowsky is primarily for his arthouse films in the United States, but in Europe his comics give equal billing. The Incal is perhaps the most well-known work, but other works such as Metabarons and Megalex are worth checking out as well. Megalex in particular focuses on a sort of actualized conflict between Nature and Technology.
