After the death of her mother, Effie is taken to live with an elderly aunt that she never knew about. Just as she starts to get settled in her strange new home weird things start to happen to Effie. She soon learns that she is a witch and that her powers are starting to awaken. In the midst of all this, Effie is also at a new school where she begins meeting new people.
This is a charming book that doesn’t shy away from dealing with loss and how hard it can be when everything in your life starts to change. I love how Effie is shown support from her new friends and how well they work together with her new family when obstacles come their way. This is a fun positive read for the whole family.
