National Memoir Writing Month is celebrated in the month of November. What is a memoir? A memoir focuses on a particular set of memories during a part of someone’s life. It is different from autobiographies since they tend to span an entire life versus just a small portion. Writing a memoir can be both exhilarating and uncomfortable as it requires one to reflect on memories that may awaken different feelings. However, writing a memoir can be very rewarding and the best part about it is that you don’t have to be a celebrity or a known figure to do so; anyone can write a memoir!
If you’ve ever thought about writing your own memoir or are at least curious about the process, below are some great resources to get you started.
