In this beautifully illustrated picture book, the authors Rose Blue and Corinne Naden tell how Ron went to the library one day with a big mission, and it wasn't just to read; it was to get his library card and nothing was going to stop him.
Readers learn this inspiring story about a boy with a mission and learn about the life of former astronaut Dr. Ronald McNair. There is an author's note in the back of the book with a picture of Dr. McNair, where children learn his inspiring life story but he was tragically was killed along with the other six astronauts on the Space Shuttle Challenger when it exploded on January 28, 1986. Ron's Big Mission is a must-read by parents and children to learn about America's Second African American Astronaut who never gave up and kept working towards his big mission.
