World Anthropology Day

Today is World Anthropology Day! Celebrated every year on the third Thursday in February, this observance is designed to bring awareness to the field of Anthropology. Anthropology is the study of human culture and societies. It include four related subfields:

Cultural Anthropology, Archaeology, Biological Anthropology, and Linguistics. In the United States, many anthropologists incorporate parts of each subfield into their work. While it may seem like Anthropology is only a niche, academic subject, it is actually directly linked to the everyday lives of people around the world. Topics like folktales and songs; holidays and daily routines; language and communication; ancient and modern history; and many more all fall into the scope of Anthropology.
