SPECIAL COLLECTIONS

The Special Collections Department supports the research needs of scholars, researchers, genealogists, the citizens of Fulton County, and the general public.

Those research needs are met by providing controlled access to collections, including rare books, maps, photographs, archival and manuscript collections, as well as microforms, databases, and digital resources.

Over the years Special Collections has built collections of books, manuscripts, maps, and other formats in several specialized areas. The Special Collections Department serves as the steward for the Fulton County Library System’s Georgia Collection, Genealogy Collection, Library Archives, Rare Book Collection, City Directories Collection, and the Margaret Mitchell Collection and Exhibit.

The Department also promotes community outreach through the creation of innovative exhibits and programming opportunities.
